Hycliffe Web Design ("Hycliffe," "we," "us") runs hycliffewebdesign.com. This page explains what information we collect, why we collect it, what we do with it, and your rights under applicable privacy laws.

What we collect

When you contact us

If you fill out our contact form, we collect the information you submit: your first name, last name, email address, phone number, an optional link to your current website, and your message. We use that information to read your inquiry and respond.

When you browse the site

Our hosting provider, Netlify, automatically collects basic technical data when you visit the site. That can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. Netlify uses this data to host the site, keep it secure, and troubleshoot problems.

We do not currently use analytics tools like Google Analytics on this site.

Theme preference

If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage. That setting stays on your device. We do not receive it.

Cookies and similar technology

We do not set marketing or tracking cookies on this site.

Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA through Netlify to block spam. Google may set cookies or collect usage data as part of that service. That processing is handled by Google under their own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may prevent the contact form from working.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your contact form submissions
  • Talk with you about a project if you reach out
  • Keep the website running, secure, and working properly
  • Block spam and abuse on our contact form

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your contact details for unrelated marketing lists.

Payments

This website does not process payments. If you pay for services through a link we send you (for example, Stripe), payment information is collected and processed by that provider, not on hycliffewebdesign.com. We do not store full credit card numbers.

Who we share information with

We share information only when we need to in order to run the site or respond to you.

  • Netlify processes contact form submissions and hosts the website. See their privacy policy at https://www.netlify.com/privacy/.
  • Google processes reCAPTCHA data when you use the contact form. See their privacy policy linked above.
  • Stripe or another payment provider processes payment information if you pay through a link we send you. We do not receive or store full credit card numbers from that process.

We may also share information if the law requires it, such as in response to a valid legal request.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Categories of personal information (California)

In the past 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

  • Identifiers, such as your name, email address, phone number, and IP address.
  • Internet or other electronic network activity information, such as pages viewed, browser type, and the date and time of your visit.
  • Commercial information, such as records of services you asked about or purchased, if you become a client.

We collect this information directly from you when you submit our contact form, automatically when you browse the site, and from our service providers such as Netlify and Google reCAPTCHA.

We use it to respond to inquiries, provide services, operate and secure the website, prevent spam, and keep business records. We do not use it for purposes materially different from those described in this policy without giving you notice.

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information as defined by the CPRA through this website, such as Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health data, or biometric data.

How long we keep information

We keep contact form submissions for as long as we need them to respond to you, follow up on a project, or keep basic business records. If you want us to delete your submission, email us and we will do so unless we are required to keep it.

Netlify may retain server logs for a limited period according to their own policies.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information. Email hycliffewebdesign@gmail.com with your request. We may need to verify your identity before we act on it. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

California residents (CCPA and CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the CCPA and CPRA, subject to certain exceptions:

  • Right to know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell, or share.
  • Right to know the categories of sources from which we collected your personal information, our business or commercial purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it.
  • Right to request a copy of the specific pieces of personal information we have about you.
  • Right to request deletion of personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Right to request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
  • Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell personal information and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no opt-out mechanism required for those activities.
  • Right to limit use and disclosure of sensitive personal information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that require a right to limit under the CPRA.
  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising your CCPA or CPRA rights.

To submit a request, email hycliffewebdesign@gmail.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request." Include your name, the email address or phone number associated with your inquiry, and the right you want to exercise. We will respond within the time required by law, generally within 45 days.

You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. The agent must provide proof that you authorized them to act for you, and we may still ask you to verify your identity directly.

We do not sell or share personal information, including the personal information of minors under 16 years of age.

European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar local laws may apply to our processing of your personal data.

  • Legal obligation, when we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.

Under the GDPR, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Request deletion of your personal data in certain circumstances.
  • Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Request portability of personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, where applicable.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that already happened.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

We are based in the United States. If we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to the United States or other countries, we rely on appropriate safeguards where required by law, such as standard contractual clauses or other mechanisms recognized under applicable data protection law.

CalOPPA disclosure

CalOPPA requires us to tell you how you can review and change the personal information we have collected about you. Because we do not maintain user accounts on this website, the personal information we hold usually comes from your contact form submission or follow-up communications with us. To review, correct, or delete that information, email hycliffewebdesign@gmail.com.

CalOPPA also requires us to say whether this site honors Do Not Track (DNT) signals from your browser. We do not currently respond to DNT signals because there is no widely accepted standard for how websites should respond to them. We do not track you across third-party websites for advertising purposes.

If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the site after that date means you accept the updated policy.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect. No website or email system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This site is for businesses looking for web design services. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child submitted information through our contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

Our site may link to other websites. We are not responsible for how those sites handle your information. Read their privacy policies before you share anything with them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
